STIPEND: Flag Day consists of two one act plays. The roles of Dot, Rex, and Adam are all in the second one act, so rehearsals time will be less than for a full length. We're offering a $200 stipend.

REHEARSALS/PERFORMANCE: Rehearsals for Flag Day will be in San Francisco; we rehearse 7-10pm Monday-Thursday; and Sunday afternoons from noon to 5pm. Performances will take place at Theatre on San Pedro Square in downtown San Jose.

ABOUT THE PLAY: Flag Day is an exploration of black-white relations in America. The first play focuses on unspoken racism; the second with a famous incident of vehicular murder in 2001. High atop a corporate office building, two men – one white, one black – seek harmony in their high-pressure world. When their simmering prejudices need venting, they resort to a corporate-approved 'solution' that lets them speak their minds without fear of reprisal. Meanwhile, in a story inspired by recent real-life tragedy, a young writer imagines the long conversation between a dying white man who lies embedded in a car windshield and the black woman who is trying desperately not to let this distraction ruin her celebration of Flag Day."
