Don't miss Second Wind's upcoming production of
Flag Day, by Lee Blessing. The Washington Times raves, “Flag Day is a frank, powerful, insightful,
commentary on the still-poisoned status of race relations in this country...Unexpectedly balanced and provocative,
Flag Day will have audiences peering deeply into their own souls long after they have left the darkened theater.”
High atop a corporate office building, two men – one white, one black – seek harmony in their high-pressure world.
When their simmering prejudices need venting, they resort to a corporate-approved 'solution' that lets them speak their
minds without fear of reprisal. Meanwhile, in a story inspired by recent real-life tragedy, a young writer imagines
the long conversation between a dying white man who lies embedded in a car windshield and the black woman who is
struggling with her need for forgiveness.
Second Wind is dedicated to theatre that approaches social and
political issues from the human perspective. We embrace the tradition of theater as
an instrument of both education and catharsis. Charles Brousse of the
Marin Independent writes: "Second Wind has a goal that is rare in today
bottom-line driven theatre world: to use the stage to explore social and
political issues that impact ordinary Americans lives."
Second Wind will be holding auditions for its upcoming production of Flag Day on July 13th.
